KALEIDO is on the road

Somewhere in the middle of Germany, there will be a van. Inside it: seven queers, far too much luggage, an insane number of wigs, and an ongoing argument about who controls the music. We are driving to Copenhagen because the faeries of Bøssehuset invited us. And when one free town calls another, you get in the van!

KALEIDO has been making shows in Amsterdam for four years now. We work at Ruigoord, the artists' free town on the edge of the harbour, and at festivals, squats and dance floors across the Netherlands. What we make is hard to explain in one word, which is why we've stopped trying. Theatre falls into drag falls into ritual falls into a club night. We build evenings where nobody in the room, including us, knows exactly what happens next. 

The show

Seven of us arrive with a story that keeps falling apart and getting rebuilt in front of you: a road, a twink lost in a strange place, a party that goes somewhere none of us fully signed off on. There is drag. There is improvisation. There is a decent chance something goes wrong while you watch, and honestly that's usually the part people talk about afterwards.

We're not doing it alone either. The evening is built together with Bøssehuset and with Copenhagen's own faeries, drag artists and performers. Danish nonsense, Dutch absurdism, one stage, one possibly unforgettable night.

Bring food. Dinner is a potluck. Everyone brings something to share, and it always works out even when it shouldn't. A dish, a pot, a bag of something. Eating together before a show does something to a room that no amount of lighting can fake.
